The air gateway to historic Charleston in South Carolina may soon be getting its first luxury airport lounge, the Charleston Post and Courier reports.
Officials at Charleston International Airport are in discussions with Airport Lounge Development of Plano, Texas, to convert currently vacant space overlooking the airport atrium into a 2,200-square-foot passenger lounge called Club CHS. Food and beverage service would be provided at the lounge.
Lounge access would be granted to travellers in airline loyalty programmes and holders of premium credit cards from American Express, Visa, Diners Club, and Mastercard. Per-diem access would also be available for a $40 fee.
Airport Lounge Development currently operates 17 lounges in 11 US airports, as well as a pair of international lounges at London Heathrow.
“We started talking about this about a year ago given the tremendous passenger growth at Charleston International,” said airport deputy director Hernan Pena. “We are confident this company will provide a high quality of service.”
