Two of the three Cuban women pulled alive from the wreckage of a plane crash that killed 110 people are fighting for their lives in hospital, doctors said Monday.
Family members, friends and neighbors of the town of Velazco, in the province of Holguín (Cuba), received Wednesday May 23, 2018, the remains of Jorge Luis Guerra, Lírise Cruz Pérez and Eddy Antonio Rodríguez, who died in the plane crash in Havana last Friday.
Armando Daniel Lopez, president of Cuba’s Institute of Civil Aviation and Aeronautics (ICAA), confirmed that the black box was identified on Thursday in the disaster area, almost a week after the accident.
Mexican aviation authorities said a team of experts would fly to Cuba on Saturday to take part in the investigation.
On Saturday, flags flew at half-mast in Cuba, marking the start of two days of national mourning.
The crash of a Cuban passenger plane on Friday could have been caused by technical problems, Mikhail Makaruk, a Russian pilot with many years of experience, told Sputnik.
The Russian head of state offered the words of sympathy and support to the families of those killed in the crash and wishes of soonest recovery to the survivors
“Things have been organized, the fire has been put out, and the remains are being identified,” he said.
